Collection "Momentum"

Collezione Momentum As the physics term Momentum - as the quantity of motion that an object has - I designed these plates playing with the idea of motion, of mass in motion. Each plate is conceived both as a single object and as part of a whole (here the idea of motion). Italian’s pride of setting tables always implies the imperative using a placemat on top of which laying the other plates. The idea of dressing the table with this “double layer” is synthesized by the design of the thick rim that embraces and contains the dinner plate. It is the rim indeed that touch the surface on which the plate lay, allowing the plate flat side to float. The design of the smaller plate (soup plate) is also conceived both as part of the entire set or as standing alone by incorporating through the rim, the idea of the placemat or dinner plate that is normally place underneath.

The height of the rim of the small plate is designed in order to be totally covered by the bigger plate, once it is placed on it (see the elevation). Also the mug, when placed behind the plates is visually contained allowing an elevation of equal partial surfaces exposed for each object. In terms of decoration, I choose to work with graphic drawing in decal, a technique that allows to print on ceramic at high temperature.

The illustrations follow the aesthetic TuorloBlue’s recipes. Indeed, each plate is decorated with either a plan, elevation or section of the same “subject”.
